Current Projects:
Christian is a muli-instrumentalist, accomplished on piano, keyboard-synth, organ, trapset, world and orchestral percussion, but his true virtuoso is displayed on his instrument of choice, the vibraphone. This was confirmed in May of 2001 when Downbeat Magazine awarded him "Most Outstanding Collegiate Jazz Performance" in their annual poll of collegiate age musicians.

Christian is currently performing in Las Vegas with the critically acclaimed Noel Freidline Quintet, a five-piece acoustic jazz group. While attending the University of North Florida, Christian played vibraphone with UNF's top jazz ensemble, the 1:30 Band. Through this award winning band he had the opportunity to perform with such jazz artists as Kevin Mahogany, Marcus Printup, Nicolas Payton, and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.

In July of 2000, Tamburr performed with the 1:30 Band at Holland's prestigious Northsea Jazz Festival. At the 2000 Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, he earned three judges citations: "Outstanding Performance" from Tonight Show drummer Ed Shaugnessy and bassist John Clayton, Jr., and "Outstanding Soloist" from saxophonist Jimmy Heath. The combo Christian was performing with at the festival was awarded the distinction of "Most Outstanding Combo Performance." While in school, Christian performed with his own trio and as a featured artist for the national swing band "Swingerhead." In 2000, Christian performed as a guest artist with Dave Brubeck, solo percussionist with Michael Feinstein, and opened for Harry Connick, Jr., this time on piano. Summer of 2000 included tours throughout North America, Europe, and an eight day showcase on the SS Independence, traveling throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

In the last four years he has performed at "The World's Greatest Bar on Earth" at World Trade Center, NY, Merv Griffin's "Coconut Club" in the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, CA, TheDerby in Hollywood, CA, the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, as well as numerous performances at Orlando's House of Blues, as well Universal Studio's City Jazz and Walt Disney's Pleasure Island Jazz Company.

Christian now 21, first started performing jazz at the age of 14 and has since had the opportunity to work with many jazz legends. Some of these jazz great's include, Ira Sulivan, Clark Terry, James Moody, Benny Green, Bucky Pizarelli, Art Van Damm, Slide Hampton, Bob Mintzer, Tom Kubis, Milt Hilton, Dick Hyman, Bob Haggart, Mark Murphy, Eric Marienthal, Marcus Printup, Bunky Green, and many others Now performing in Las Vegas, Christian now making his home Las Vegas, is featured with the Noel Friedline Quintet and performs at The Allegro Jazz Club at the Bellagio, Venus Jazz Club at the Venetian and performances at the Blue Note Las Vegas. Christian is also currently working with Penn and Teller, writing and teaching new music to the world renowned perfomers. Far from the stage, Christian also works as an assistant teaching percussion performance for two high schools in the Las Vegas area.

Christian's future is wide open and he plans to take advantage of all opportunities that come his way. Best said in an article in the June 1996 issue of The Mississippi Rag Rick Fay wrote, " ...in all, 47 performers gave their time and talents. I am sure none of them would disagree if I tell you who was the biggest hit of the day. It was vibraphonist Christian Tamburr. During his set the seasoned listener could hear echoes of all the great vibemen, Hampton, Norvo, Milt Jackson. It is a lead pipe cinch this player will take his place among them."

Funniest Swingerhead Moment: "Locking Dean-Oh's Pringle Chip container with a combination lock, and watching him sh*t a brick about it. This was during our August '99 California tour, coming back from Big Bear."

Personal Motto: "Expect the unexpected"

Other cool stuff about yourself you'd like to share with the rest of the world: I hope to continue working with Swingerhead... Swingerhead has made me the musician that I am now and I thank all the guys for being so supportive throughout the years." "Thank you, see you all soon!" - 'The Kid'
